Varzo, Cemetery

A part of the cemetery of Varzo (568 m), Valle Divedro, Ossola, Italy. The Divedro Valley is located in the heart of the Lepontine Alps. The valley links Valle d'Ossola to the Valais/Wallis through the Simplon Pass. The valley is crossed by the river Diveria, "born" in Switzerland, near the Simplon Pass. The name Varzo comes from the Celtic "Vargo" or "gap" which means enlargement of the valley. Today there are about 2150 inhabitants in Varzo. (Summer 2007)
