View from Bielerkopf across the Silvretta Stausee

Even if it's only a shoulder along the trail to the Bielerspitze, not even a local summit, the Bielerkopf is a beautiful viewpoint. The true summit is further north, and over 100m higher. I don't know the reason for the cross, but it succeeded in confusing my friends that day. The four of us planned to go up the Bielerspitze, and since this clearly was just a shoulder and not the top, I didn't pause long after I got there. I felt energetic, and so I continued rather fast and only sat down to wait for them once I reached the true summit. It was on a small plateau, so when nobody came, I went back to the edge and looked down. I spotted a group of three tiny dots - three hikers, descending. I've learned that groups of three are not particularly common in the mountains, so I called my friends and asked where they were - and, sure enough, they were the dots. They had mistaken the cross for the Bielerspitze and were heading down! Later I asked why they didn't see that it was obviously not the highest point? As it turned out, they were a bit puzzled too, but for a different reason. Our plan had been to ascend the Bielerspitze together, after which my friends, who wanted an easy day, would go back down, while I would go on by myself and try climbing Vallüla as well. On reaching the cross at the Bielerkopf, they mistook it for our summit. They didn't understand why I didn't wait for them, but eventually they concluded that I wanted to push on because I still had quite a way to go to Vallüla, and so they headed down... 21 July 2013.
