View from the plateau between...

View from the plateau between Velika & Mala Paklenica canyons towards north. Left is sharp Veliki Golic (1266m) with two summits. In front is Jurasova Glava (742m), which on the other side falls with steep cliffs into Velika Paklenica. Behind is Viserujna (1632m), Buljma pass (1400m) and Rapavac (1617m). Highest part of the massif is in typical Bura wind cap. If only photo could capture the wind... Photo: Aleksandar Gospic

Velebit wind seems to be like Mistral wind in Provence

Re: wind

Yes, it is quite similar type of wind, blows from northern direction (Bura from NE), it is cold and dry. But Bura is much stronger, especially Velebit Bura. Last winter below Velebit gust of 305km/h was measured and wind between 150 and 200km/h is quite frequent in winter!

Re: Wind Is on this great picture!

Thanks Vid! This was 2 days ago and my eyes are still red, burned by the wind :-) I must buy those Uvex skiing glasses which are completely closed!
