View near the summit of Oak Mountain

This view was taken near the summit of Oak Mountain in February of 2007. The advantage of coming this time of year is that all of the leaves are off of the trees allowing for some good views. The downside is that without the leaves, the sounds of traffic and trains nearby are unobstructed and remind you that civilization is not that far away. By some estimates, there are over a million people living in the counties surrounding the parkland.
