Stick clip!Brings back a lot of old memories. My wife used to call those "cheater stick." I could'nt teach her not to say "cheater." I had made one out of a painting stick that went to about ten feet. The one I see in the photo has three expansion levels. How high do these go?

When I first started sport climbing, I thought stick clips were cheating and lame, too. Then I started considering the consequences of falling before a high first bolt, especially when solo or with my kids, and I decided getting killed or breaking bones wasn't worth it on a single-pitch sport route.
There's a 5.6 around here with a super-polished start. Often, I use a stick clip for it. Yeah, it makes me feel a little goofy using it on a 5.6, and I've never fallen on the start, but I like going home in one piece!
