Approximately 180km north of Belo Horizonte, in the wild high country of Unesco’s Serra do Espinhaço Biosphere Reserve, is Tabuleiro waterfall, Brazil's third-highest waterfall. The dramatic 273m falls are protected witthin Serra do Intendente State Park, a state park just outside the small town of Tabuleiro. This remote spot makes a worthwhile detour for anyone traveling north between da Serra do Cipó National Park and the historic mountain towns of Serro and Diamantina.
