Approach

Use highway RN 193 (both from Ajaccio and Bastia) and at Francardo turn into the Golo valley using D84. The first part of the drive takes you through the magnificient Scala di Sta Regina, a beautiful gorge which invites climbers. Right after Calacuccia turn right towards Lozzi. You can either start from the campground at Lozzi or take a dirt road to the Bergerie de Petra Pinzuta. But this road is in a terrible condition and driving the 7.5 km will shake the hell out of you. Hiking the distance takes about an hour and approx. 400m of altitude.

Route Description

Alititude gain: 1550m from the campground near Lozzi,
1050m from the Bergerie de Petra Pinzuta
Difficulty: II
Duration: 7h from Lozzi, 5 1/2h from the bergerie

For this ascent route you have to start rather early.. The best starting point is the the bergerie de Petra Pinzuta.
From Lozzi the bergerie de Petra Pinzuta take the level path to the Refuge de l'Ercu . Here you take the trail along the Ercu valley in the direction of Lac du Cinto (sign). Up to Lac de Cinto the trail offers no major difficulties other than a couple of snowfields that remain there often until June. From the lake you turn right and scramble up a cirque to the Pointe des Eboulis at 2607m. The last 100m of altitude again follow the southwestern ridge to the summit.

Essential Gear

In summer hiking gear and warm clothes are sufficient. In spring and autumn you might need crampons.
