Overview
Our timing for our walk through the Walls of Jerusalem coincided with what we thought was an uncharacteristic spell of warm days and clear blue skies. Although this seemed to suit the abundance of lakes and clear water it gave an almost tropical feel to this alpine environment. The park was relatively quiet, there were a few hiking parties around Wild Dog Creek, but once through the Walls we pretty much had the place to ourselves, only having to share a bit of space at the pristine campsite on the lake shores of Lake Meston with some keen trout fishermen.
We stuck pretty much to the established trails, only leaving the trail to climb Mount Ragoona on the way to Lake Bill. The highlight for me was the climb up Mount Jerusalem and the panoramic views provided over the Central Plateau.
As it turned out the day after finishing our hike the weather turned and the balmy conditions were replaced with rain and snowfalls.
