Elephant's Head Lousewort

Elephant's Head Lousewort

Elephant's Head Lousewort (Pedicularis groenlandica) is usually found in wet meadows or on stream banks. If you look closely you can see how it was named. Each petal has a long trunk-like protuberance, overall resembling an elephant's head. Photographed on the eastern side of McCartney Peak, September 5, 2010.
