My visit to Borneo
I visited the Malaysian part of Borneo (states of Sabah and Sarawak) in January/February 2010. I was fortunate also to have a brief visit to the country of Brunei. One of the highlights was the climb to Lows Peak (4101m) - the high point of the Kinabalu massif, also the high point of Borneo and Malaysia. In addition to Gunung Kinabalu National Park, I visited some others (Tunku Abdul Rahman NP, Gunung Mulu NP, Bako NP) and wildlife reserves (Sepilok, Labuk Bay). It is a delightful place for those who are interested in tropical flora and fauna. The forest is under extreme threat: I saw huge swaths that were converted to palm nut plantations (for biodiesel fuel). They can use the tourism revenue.
