What in the world?

Very interesting picture, but I must confess I'm extremely puzzled about a number of details: The matching orange bags, the boards, the sparse clothing in such an abrasive environment. Mostly the boards and the bags though. Well taken picture 10/10. Maybe they're going to assemble a science experiment of some sort
