VISITORS! And now let's go to see the collection of Franco, nicknamed "Mammy" because in his backpack there's really everything, like in a mini-market: by the bat with a chisel, peach and lemon tea, different kinds of gloves for Everest or gardening, sunglasses K2 or Miami Beach style; strawberry, blueberries, raspberry, fruits of wood jams; génépy, tequila or 80° brandy, big grandmother's underpants anti-congelation, bathing-suit and a girdle, eggs already fried or boiled or simply to beat, plasters, gauzes; anti viper and anti boring people serums, you just have to ask and here you are! The other "hunter" Camillo Roberto Ferronato, Antonio (not to be mistaken for the handsome Anthony of Mastroianni's film who has another aspect) always armed with his camera, and I organize the expedition to his house at Valpettaz, on the threshold of the wood. You reach it walking along the homonymous canal and a steep ramp leading to an ancient house of the end of XIX century, surrounded by discards of crystals, as it happens in the dumps of the old mines. We arrive, welcomed by a furious to bark of free dogs, there in the evening of Friday the 10th of May 2012. A very steep stairway on which lives a colony of wild cats (I counted 33) leads to the "Sacred Temple", like Maya and Aztec truncated pyramids. The entry is narrow and the corridors, flanked with glimmering showcases over-full of crystals and different minerals, smell of Indiana Jones' adventures. Many kinds of lighthouses above the showcases to illuminate them heat as in a television studio, while the flashes of Antonio's camera, who takes pictures everywhere, gives the idea of a U.F.O. attack. To confirm this last hypothesis, there are the mineralogical speeches of our two experts talking about bissoliti and zeolites, hyaline fumés quartzes and others with chlorite or fluorite, descriptions and octahedral, finished, finished on both sides, centimetric or not lines. The observer, lacking of such erudition, is at first admired and surprised, then, progressively he clearly feels the symptoms of palpitation, soon become frightening upsetting. Camillo Roberto is now uncontrollable and seems a German machine gun of a landing force in Normandy: nobody could stop him and now, besides the scientific illustration of the minerals features, he starts describing their origin forcing the poor and inexperienced listener to fly over the whole Chain of Mont Blanc, from East to West, then from West to East, from the Aiguilles des Glaciers and of the Estellette to the Monts Rouges de Triolet and Mont Dolent, not without having jumped on the Marbrées and climbed over the Dent du Géant. Mammy realizes this and to help the poor and stupefied pupil (Antonio defends himself shooting photos in all directions) slinks to the cellar and organizes a small snack to remedy the drop in sugar. Roby is now in hypnotic trance and extracts from the showcases one mineral after the other, as if he had discovered a new geode. Franco goes up the the stairs slaloming among the perched cats, a real ski monitor, as he really is. We finally sit down with a sigh of relief and putting our legs under the table. A good glass of Zibibbo and of another excellent Sicilian wine (mammy doesn't remember its name), accompanied by a good mocetta (smoked and seasoned meat of chamois), fontina (the most famous typical cheese from Aosta Valley) and wholemeal bread from the tableland of Asiago refresh the group of "Visitors" furnishing the energy necessary to examine the splendid and vast collection, fruit of ultra thirty-year Franco's studies and searches.

E' arrivato così il turno di andare a visitare la Collezione del Franco, detto "La Mamma" (perché nel suo zaino si trova proprio di tutto, tipo mini-market: dalla mazzuola allo scalpello, al té alla pesca od al limone, varii tipi di guanti da Everest o da giardiniere, occhiali da sole K2 o da Miami Beach, marmellate alla fragola, mirtilli, lampone, frutti di bosco, genepy, tequila oppure acquavite a 80°, mutandoni della nonna anti congelamento o slip da bagno, tanga compreso, uova già fritte, sode od eventualmente "alla coque" o semplicemente da sbattere, cerotti, garze, siero anti vipera e siero anti rompi coglioni, chiedere ... et voilà Monsieur é accontentato); con l'altro "Hunter" Camillo Roberto Ferronato, l'Antonio (da non confondere con il Bell'Antonio del Mastroianni, perché questo ha tutt'altre fattezze) sempre armato di macchina fotografica ed il sottosritto organizziamo l'Expedition Chez-Lui in Località Valpettaz, al limitar del bosco. La si raggiunge costeggiando l'omonimo Ru (= Ruscello), vincendo un'erta rampa che porta all'antica casa di fine '800 con ai lati un occhieggiare di "scarti" di cristalli come avviene nelle discariche delle vecchie miniere. La raggiungiamo, accolti da un furibondo latrar di cani sciolti, sul calar della sera di Venerdì 10 Maggio 2012. Un'alquanto ripida scalinata sulla quale staziona una selva di gatti selvatici (ne ho contati 33!) conduce al "Sacro Tempio", simile a piramide tronca come quelle Maya ed Atzeche. L'ingresso é stretto ed i corridoi, rivestiti sui lati da vetrine luccicanti e stracolme di cristalli e minerali vari, profumano di avventura all'Indiana Jones. Fari e faretti sospesi sopra le vetrine ed atti all'illuminazione delle medesime emanano un calore da studio televisivo, mentre i bagliori della macchina di Antonio, che spara fotografie all'impazzata, danno l'idea di un attacco U.F.O. A conferma di quest'ultima ipotesi i discorsi mineralogici dei nostri due esperti che incrociano bissoliti con zeoliti, accoppiano quarzi ialini fumés con altri con la clorite o la fluorite, coniugano le descrizioni con tratti ottaedrici, terminati, biterminati, centimetrici e no. L'osservatore digiuno di così tanta erudizione rimane dapprima meravigliato, inebetito ed esterrefatto, poi, progressivamente, denota chiari sintomi di palpitazione, che presto si trasformano in un allucinante sconvolgimento. Il Camillo Roberto diventa incontenibile e sembra una mitragliatrice tedesca tipo Sbarco in Normandia: non lo ferma più nessuno ed adesso, oltre all'illustrazione scientifica delle fattezze dei minerali, inizia a desriverne la provenienza obbligando il povero ed inesperto auditore con uno sforzo inaudito a sorvolare l'intera Catena del Monte Bianco, attraversandola da Ovest ad Est e poi da Oriente ad Occidente dalle Aiguilles des Glaciers e dell'Estellette ai Monts Rouges de Triolet al Mont Dolent, non senza essere saltati sopra alle Marbrées e scavalcato la Dent du Géant. Ma "La Mamma" se ne accorge e per soccorrere il povero inebetito alunno (l'Antonio si difende sparando foto in tutte le direzioni) sgaiattola via verso la cantina per organizzare uno spuntino riparatore nei confronti del calo di zuccheri. Il Roby invece é ormai in trance ipnotica ed estrae dalle vetrine minerali uno dietro l'altro, come se avesse scoperto una nuova geode. Ritorna il Franco salendo le scale in uno slalom tra i gatti appollaiati, degno di un Maestro di Sci, come daltronde é lui. Finalmente ci sediamo tirando un sospiro di sollievo e mettendo le gambe sotto al tavolo. Un buon bicchiere di Zibibbo della Sicilia ed un altro vinello siciliano (ottimo), del quale "La Mamma" non si ricorda il nome, accompagnati da una buona moccetta (= carne affumicata e stagionata di camoscio), fontina (= formaggio tipico per eccellenza della Valle d'Aosta) e pane integrale dell'Altipiano di Asiago rifocillano la troupe dei "Visitors" fornendo quell'energie necessarie per esaminare la splendida e vasta Collection, frutto dello studio e delle ricerche ultratrentennali del Franco.

Franco Lucianaz, been born to Aosta the 16 February of 1941 and resident in fraction Valpettaz (Charvensod). Ex dependent Regional USL of the Valley of Aosta, Teacher of Ski and President of the GROUP Mineralogical Valdostano "Les Amis of Berrio" (from 1995). For his long and proven career of mineralogist (cristallier or researcher of champions of crystals) he is defined by now in the local environment one "legend." In fact, Franco, begins to collect mineral beginning from the years 70, enrolling himself in the GROUP Mineralogico of the Cral Cogne with the well President Giulio Albertinelli (he must not be forgotten that the first collector of mineral of Aosta's Valley, at least in he was modern, he was a Sicilian and he deals with the barber that, in that years, he operated to St. Pierre, or: Nazzareno Fiocca). Nevertheless, and as he likes to remember, the "virus" real for the passion of the stones, Franco picks it up in one period in which the hobby was indeed an abstruse word in the families farmer-workers; but him, in his heart, until already from little boy, he knew how to pick up them feeding that taste of the beautiful one even though intent to run after the herd on the tall pastures of the mountains of Rhêmes here and there. Along those eight seasons, in which you have to face of life it lasts, it is difficult to think that what can be loved it surrounds yourself among downpours, uneasiness and storms. The only certainty of that apprenticeship certainly results that he is certainly gone out of it tempered. Nevertheless it was thanks to his job that subsequently a depth expert of the ravines becomes the most hidden of the territory "valdostano", allowing together him to other companions or colleagues to for instance rouse that particular hidden as the pomegranates and the famous vesuvianes of the rodingitis I am it (green stones ofiolitiche), you define the most beautiful of the world.
Franco Lucianaz è nato ad Aosta il 16 febbraio del 1941 e risiede in frazione Valpettaz (Charvensod); è un ex dipendente regionale USL della Valle d’Aosta, Maestro di Sci e Presidente del Gruppo Mineralogico Valdostano "Les Amis di Berrio" (dal 1995). Per la sua lunga e comprovata carriera di mineralogista (cristallier o ricercatore di campioni di cristalli) è definito ormai nell'ambiente locale una "leggenda". Infatti, Franco inizia a collezionare minerali a partire dagli anni 70, iscrivendosi al Gruppo Mineralogico del CRAL Cogne con l'allora presidente Giulio Albertinelli. (Non va dimenticato che il primo collezionista di minerali valdostano, almeno in era moderna, era un siciliano, e il barbiere che, in quegli anni, operava a St. Pierre: Nazzareno Fiocca). Tuttavia, e come piace a lui rammentare, il "virus" vero e proprio per la passione dei sassi, Franco lo prende in un periodo in cui hobby era una parola davvero astrusa nelle famiglie contadino-operaie; ma lui, in cuor suo, fin da fanciullo, sapeva raccattarli qua e là nutrendo quel gusto del bello, seppure intento a rincorrere la mandria sugli alti pascoli delle montagne di Rhêmes. In quelle otto stagioni di vita dura, che dovette affrontare, era difficile poter amare l'ambiente circostante, tra acquazzoni, disagi e bufere. L'unica certezza di quel tirocinio è che ne è uscito senz'altro temprato. Ciò nonostante, grazie al suo lavoro, è diventato in seguito un profondo conoscitore degli anfratti più celati del territorio valdostano, il che gli ha permesso, insieme ad altri compagni o colleghi, di scovare quei particolari nascosti, come ad esempio i granati e le famose vesuviane delle rodingiti (pietre verdi ofiolitiche), definite le più belle del mondo.
