This is a view of the southeast side of Chiwawa Mountain showing the route one takes for Option 1 of the East Route to Fortress Mountain. There is excellent camping all along the benches. With a camp, it would be possible to climb Fortress, Chiwawa, and Red Mountain in two days. This photo taken from near the end of the Chiwawa River Trail (c. 6,400 ft). September 2000.
