Schurman Rock

Schurman Rock

Schurman Rock was designed by the same Clark Schurman that Mount Rainier's Camp Schurman is named in honor of. Former head climbing ranger at Mount Rainier National Park, Schurman designed this climbing wall as a place where novice climbers could learn the basics of rock climbing. It was build near the end of the Great Depression with help from the Works Progress Administration and was at that time known as Monitor Rock. It was renamed in Schurman's honor after he passed away.
