The sheer rock wall east by southeast of the Turtmannhütte

This wall offers fine rock climbing opportunities, and some visitors to the Turtmannhütte come to explore them. However, most are more interested in hiking and climbing the likes of Barrhorn, Brunegghorn and Bishorn. See that steep snow filled couloir on the far right? That's the way to all these mountains. Though not visible in this photo, directly on the right hand side of the snow is a steep hiking trail, secured by steel cables. 3 July 2014.
