Bogomil?

Is this similar to Cathars in France?

Re: Bogomil?

As far as I know there are no tombstones like this laid by the cathars.

Nonetheless: Bogomils were a Bulgarian heretical movement -as you probably know. Their philosophy made their way to the Cathars. Some say their influence reached the Bosnian Church. Others say the Bosnian Church was not Bogomil at all. It an intense debate, heavily loaded with political agendas. The proof of a seperate origin for the Bosnian Church (neither catholic nor orthodox) adds weight to the arguements of a seperate Bosnian identity. The weight of arguement is in favour of those that say the Bosnian Church was not Bogomil, but nonetheless very unique in its identity. But the terms have become synonymous through their wide use, and Bogomil is often used in BiH to describe things that pertain to the Bosnian Church.
