1973 Climb
Climbed with wife #1 (Susan Stubblefield) while camping near Vogelsang HSC. I'm sure the view was great (?) !

Sierra Challendge Alt.
Fell and twisted my ankle while on a great pace with Bob on the way to Florence Peak. Sam and I turned back, as we hoped to do a later hike in the Minarets. The peak was still quite beautiful, and not to be scoffed at.

Route: Left Side Gully from Tuolumne Meadows
No one on trail after the HSC - almost went skinny dipping afterwards in Vogelsang Lake :) This might be my favorite perch in Yose so far - and lots of inspired notes in the registers.

Dayhike from Tuolomne Meadows
2006 Sierra Challenge. Didn't make Florence, but made Vogelsang and Parsons in a long dayhike. Caught in T-Storm in Lyell Canyon on way out.

From Vogelsang Pass
Bonus peak after summiting Parsons from Ireland Lake. Spent a cold (15 deg!) night and a windy day at Ireland.

Fun climb but it was a secondary choice fun class 3 route. Overall exciting dayhike.

Decided to climb this easy peak after hiking in to Vogelsang Lake at 4 pm, with Hakan Yalcin and his wife Ayla. The air was hazy due to nearby fires, from the summit Half Dome was only a faint silouette. The trip became an epic soon after during the night as we were caught in a big snow storm, luckily we were able to get out safely the next day with a large group we met at the nearby High Sierra Camp.

An interesting peak. It had me constantly looking down at the terrain at the feldspar and quartz rocks. Beautiful stones! Climbed with Todd Liceau, Jesse Greenblatt, and two kids from Camp Tawonga-Dustin and Jon.
Route Climbed: NE Buttress/N Ridge Date Climbed: 14 September 2003
What a great route! It follows the aesthetic line up the NE buttress from the northwest end of Vogelsang Lake. Sustained third class, with 2 or 3 fourth class sections, with one incredibly exposed traverse along the west face to gain the north ridge proper. From there, it is just a walk (barring some exposure and mild scrambling) along the ridge to the summit, despite its intimidating appearence from below. Some of the best rock I've seen in the Sierra -- light granite with large plagioclase feldspar crystals, which are quite solid, unlike the smaller ones around Matthes Crest and Tresidder Peak.
We made it from the lake to the summit in 45 minutes, then descended the Central Face variation of standard route.
Route Climbed: East face Date Climbed: July 16, 2003
Did this with about 10 boy scouts in the middle of a 60 miler. Had to remind them to yell "ROCK" when they set one loose, almost took someone out. Trip Report
