Vransko jezero from Helm

From the summit of Helm we have a nice view over Cres island and further around. This is the view on the protected area of Vransko jezero (lake). This big lake is a unique phaenomenon on such an island like Cres. It has sweet water, the lake surface is above the sea level, but its bottom is well below it (cryptodepression - is that the word?). The area is prohibited to approach because of the high value which water has to the whole archipelag. March 14th, 2009.
