Vulcan has a letter J painted on the East face. It was painted by student of St. Joseph's college in the 1950's. Also the top used to be open with a small caldera, but senior pranks ruined it by putting tires inside and burning them to make it look as if the volcano was erupting. Since the top was filled in with volcanic rock by the BLM
