Walking towards the summit. 8...

Walking towards the summit. 8 people and 1 guide. The guide (storm) said that he allways reached the summit and had never turned back with any group. As everywhere else on Iceland, the weather can change really fast. I got a gimpse of the sun two times while walking over the ice cap, but there was fog most of the time. Unfortunately the view wasn't as good as I'd hoped that day. I think everybody enjoyed the walk anyway.

Yeah....

didn't that seem bizarre having 8 people on one rope? I looked at the guide and laughed when he said that. No one else in my group had ever been on a rope before or held an axe either. Much of my climb looked like your photo too.

Judging from the amount of slack in front of the person in front of you in this photo, looks like you had some of the same issues with your group, eh?

Good photo.

Re: Yeah....

Yeps! Most of them hadn't tried this before, so things went a bit slow on. The two guys behind me were more experienced though, a couple of climbers from Switzerland. At some point up there I saw people carrying the rope in their arms because they had two much slack. I didn't care bacuse the glacier didn't seem too dangerous and since the guide kept on like he did I kept smiling enjoying the walk. The weather was perfect the next day, but you never know...
