excellent article

Thank you for providing such detail into Muir's wanderings up here on Summitpost as a handy reference when inspiration lags!

Re: excellent article

Thanks for the comments! It sure isn't hard to get inspired after reading a few of Muir's comments, that's for sure. I thought if anyone deserved a place on SP, Mr. Muir does!

Fine Tribute

Those of us who enjoy wind places owe a lot to John Muir.

Thanks for the read

Wonderfully written and engaging. Inspirational!

Was Muir a Christian?

Re: Thanks for the read

That question is a matter of debate. I know that due to his upbringing religion had left a bad taste in Muirs mouth. Though he didn't come right out and say it I believe Muir found his 'God' in the creation around him. It is curious how often he uses God in some of his more vivid descriptions though I believe that, to a degree, this is a result of the late Victorian era in which Muir lived, not necessarily a deep-rooted religious belief.

Thanks for taking the time to write such a great and informative article. And thanks too for using my photo of Glacier Bay, that was a good surprise.

Re: Thanks!

Sorry I didn't write you to let you know but I'm glad you approve! A beautiful shot byt the way, it really captures what Muir must have found so inspiring about the place!

Great article

about a great man. I red "The mountains of California" last year and was thrilled by his vivid and brilliant description of the wonders he explored. Your article gave me some further informations - thanks for that work, Michael
