Would have been Lunadog's 14th birthday today. Hiked with her collar to the top. No larches on this trail so I need to do something else in this area this weekend to see some.
Climbed all of the peaks along the kettle crest. Exhausting but gorgeous.
Rain, rainbows, and a heck of a big summit cairn.
Having climbed nearby Copper Butte twice before, I decided to tackle another of the five 7,000-footers in the Kettle Range. I could tell that I was the first one up there this season, since there were no footprints in the patches of snow on the summit. Although I only did this as a dayhike, I could tell that the campground at the Wapaloosie Trailhead, and the campsite at the summit, would make a great weekend destination to explore the Kettle Range.
