Short jaunt
For such an accessible "peak," I was surprised that the last journal entry was in July. Hit Chief next.

Great viewss!
Great views east of Chief Mountain and amazing vista to the West of Evans and all it's neighbors! Did a trail run today as a warm-up for tomorrow's big ultra around Evans. Great to be back in the mountains!!
Went down into the forest from a nearby parking area to make sure I got well over 300' of gain.

Quick Bag
Quick and easy stroll with some rock hopping at the summit. Really secluded feeling even though it is right next to the highway.

Solo from the highway
I was at Echo Lodge so I thought I would try to check Warrior Mountain out. I could not find the picnic grounds sign or the picnic table, looks like they have been removed. The general directions will get you there though. I walked up the road and I saw the radio building so I am pretty sure I was at the right place. Since it looked like a short scramble to the top over the boulders I (being 66) decided to pass because I left my better half in the car and I had no way to communicate to her that could take longer than I thought. I am pretty sure I could have made it but next time I will bring the walkie talkies just in case.

Solo from the Pinic Area
Was heading up high to get some peaks but realized at the Evergreen exit my boots were sitting next to the front door! What an idiot! Decided to head up and do Chief, Warrior and Squaw Mnts knowing I could do them in sneakers on this sunny day. Some nice rocks on the tops of these peaks.

Fun hike
Hiked from the Parking Lot. Nice views from the summit of Mount Evans and other mountains?
Got back to the trailhead through the the pine forest.
Scrambled the peak with my daughter, then bushwhacked east along the ridge. I was aiming for the old road on the northwest side of Chief Mtn. but we stopped at the ~10,900' saddle and walked the Squaw Pass Road back to the picnic area.

5/2/10: Climbed from picnic area, also went up a few other peaks along the Squaw Pass Road that day. This is definitely among the easiest ascents in Colorado, took about 15 minutes RT.
12/8/12: Repeat from picnic area, also went up a few other 11ers.
