Washington Aqueduct on Potomac River

Washington Aqueduct on Potomac River

Great Falls October 2, 2010 Here the Washington Aqueduct draws drinking water for the area and creates a smooth draw around the dam. Hikers, bikers, walkers, all enjoy the Billy Goat Trail and other hikes in this area along the towpath of the historic Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, completed in 1850 after 22 years of work and mishap, and operated for 73 years between Georgetown and Cumberland, MD.

Very nice!

I like this one as well - your strong autumn colors are exactly up my street!
I might have come past a couple of these spots back in the early 70s, when my maternal grand-parents - my mother is a born New Englander! - were still alive and living near Washington D. C. and we flew several times from Switzerland to visit them. I vaguely remember a day trip by car we all took together to the Potomac River, but after all those years I couldn't possibly recall which spot we were at exactly.
