Thanks, I think you should try this route when you go to Southern Utah. There is another route nearby that goes up Squirrel Canyon but Water Canyon seems to be the better of the two.
I've always wondered how to get up there. If I hadn't read your pages, I would have struck out blindly, if at all; Canaan looks so foreboding from the road to Zion.
Thanks Moapa! I also stayed away from the mountain for a long time. It just looks like a giant cliff when driving to Zion. I know that you like the mountains in Zion so you’ll probably like Canaan Mountain too.

Okay...This one sounds like a truly awesome hike. I need to try it, sometime. The Colorado Plateau is a wonderful & interesting area.
