longtail weasel, Mustela frenata
Big Cottonwood Canyon, Wasatch Mts, Utah.
This fellow popped up out of a snowbank near me. He ran a fast semicircle around me as close as 2m, then returned to his burrow. He re-emerged with a dead vole and bounded off. I guess he thought I might steal his lunch.
