Weasel

Weasel

We saw this cute little weasel on our way down from Wheeler Peak in New Mexico. It was very curious and kept popping up from behind a rock to check us out. August-16-2013

An amazing photo!

I don't think I have ever seen a weasel. I wonder why some people are likened to this cute animal!

Re: An amazing photo!

I think weasels are the cutest things ever. I got very close to one in the winter once but unfortunately did not have a camera with me. It exhibited the same behavior, hiding behind a rock and then coming out to look at me, over and over and over. They are even prettier in the winter with their snow white coats and black tipped tails. I also don't know why scummy people are called weasels, but another name for weasel is ermine which sounds much better.

Congratulations!

Wonderful shot!

I heard that weasels are quite brave predators. It can jump on your throat, he he!

Re: Congratulations!

It let me get close enough to wonder if I was being stupid. The one I saw in the winter had at times a round ball of a pica in its mouth. It kept putting it down and then picking it back up. Although I felt sorry for the pica it was a comical sight because the weasel was so skinny and the pica so fat.
