When I came across this...

When I came across this sight I could almost hear Grandpa Simpson saying, "Back in my day we didn't have metal or plastic pipes. We had to make ours out of wood." This pipe carries water from Agnes Lake and dumps it into Michigan Ditch where it's transported to the top of Cameron Pass and dumped into the Poudre River, presumably for Fort Collins drinking water. I could hear water running in the pipe and I got down on hands and knees to see if the wood on the under side of the pipe was wet or leaking. As near as I could tell it was working like a dream. I wonder how old this thing is. The pipe ran for more than a quarter mile above ground and possibly as far as three miles underground!
