Where the Hannover hut used to stand

This is on the summit plateau of Arnoldshöhe, on top of which the Alpine Club hut Hannoverhaus had been built in 1911. For over a hundred years it served it's purpose, until it had been decided in 2012 for economic reasons to take down the hut and build a new one about 150 meters below. Since December 2013 this new hut is in operation. In August 2014, what was still left of the old hut on the top of Arnoldshöhe caught fire (the cause is still not known for sure) and was destroyed completely. There are no more traces of it to be seen any more. The little building still left on top is the mausoleum containing the ashes of Prof. Johann Karl Moritz Arnold (1853-1929), who was the first to introduce tourism in the Carinthian Alps. Behind the mausoleum one sees the broad western slope of Grauleitenspitze, and further behind the Ankogel is shrouded in cloud.
