Re: Aaah!

This is without question my favorite single pitch of ice I've ever climbed.

Good picture

Was lucky to do the Ames Ice Hose after returning from Canada of 2008 winter how does this climb rate it has my curiosity aroused. I plan on taking some time down in southwest Colo. this winter would like to do this climb.

Re: Good picture

It can be done in either WI 4 or WI 5, depending on the side you go up. I'm top roping the harder side in the picture. The day we shot that photo, I was following P1 on left and an avalanche ran by my partner and walloped me. We then used double seventies and top roped through the anchor. I've not done the Ice Hose yet, but it's definitely harder. Better Photos on Mountain Project.

Re: WoW....

Thanks, this is one of my favorite spots. Within a mile are two of my favorite ice climbs (Whorehouse and Stairway to Heaven).

No no

Never top rope a real ice climb that's sacrilegious!

Re: No no

I'd already been hit by an avalanche that day on the other side. We were mostly teaching his brother at this point. The avalanche made a lasting memory and changed my ways a lot. You can't top rope many "real" ice climbs that I know of without leading them.
