Wichita Mountains Bison
We ran into this Bison while hiking out to Forty-Foot Hole in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, OK. He was on the trail, so we deferred to his larger size and headed off into the grass until he passed. Later we'd see him lying down in the nearby picnic area (unused, undoubtedly because the biting horseflies are terrible this time of year). Imaged in August 2010.
