Made it to the ridge
I made it up to the ridge and got a short distance from the window when I ran into four of the guys I started with coming back down and decided to turn around there. It ws a great hike with lots of great views.

Ventana Canyon
Ventana is yet another amazingly beautiful Tucson-area canyon! Beyond Maiden Pools I saw NO ONE until the saddle to ascend Window Peak. At this point I ran into two other solo hikers. The scramble to the summit was a little dicey solo with snow and ice on the best holds, but the views from the top were show-stopping! My GPS registered 14.5 miles RT from the Ventana resort TH. Beautiful day, sunny with temps in the 50s F. Perfect!

The Laggard
Hiked with the speedy Guy C. and the speedier AZB. They
waited at the top a long time for the laggard. AZB climbed
the pinnacle contending for HP and we used a rope to join him.
Water ran low on the descent, but after a light rain we could
lick drops off oak leaves. Hiked out solo in the dark, taking
fully reclining rests to revive flagging morale.
Route Climbed: Ventana / Esperero Loop Date Climbed: Dec 21, 2004
Great climb to the Window and Window Peak. This is one of the most beautiful spots near Tucson and I always end up there when I go home. The Esperero loop was stressful as the trail was really hard to find descending from the peak, there was some snow cover that made things even harder. PICS
