Love it!

Great TR, esp. can relate to this quote:

"Photography became my excuse for each rest."

Safe climbing in 2013!

Nice Report

Looks like once you were actually on the slide conditions were relatively good? How would you rate this in comparison to Gothics NF.

Re: Nice Report

Avy conditions were disconcerting...too much unconsolidated snow that settled in a half dozen different areas. I haven't done the N Face yet (plan to in a month or so), but the exposure is less, overall ascent less and only the top of the Beckhorn slide has a similar pitch to the N Face.

Great read!

Nice trip report! Me and my buddy did some overnight backpacking in the dix wilderness this autumn and decided it would be really cool to climb some of those slides in the winter. We're buying all our winter gear right now, and this TR does a good job giving me an idea what to expect!

Cheers,

Joel

Re: Great read!

Thanks, I appreciate the comment! The Beckhorn Slide is quite a bit more out of the way than the others...I love a challenge! The 'Finger' (Northern) slides and western slides (Hunter's Pass especially) are much more accessible from the trail, however. Hunter's Pass Slide is one of my favourites and perhaps the most dramatic & feature-rich of them all. Safe climbing.
