Wolf Watchers in Lamar Valley

Wolf Watchers in Lamar Valley

The wolf-watching scene along the road in the Lamar Valley, Yellowstone NP. There were several wolves working a herd of bison and a group of pronghorns about two miles across the valley. June 2008.

Is this an

annual event? I suppose people need to record
this natural event for prosperity. I'd rather
sit in front of the computer, and admire the
awesome photos on SP.

Hey, some of these people might be taking
photos ... FOR SP!! :)

Re: Is this an

No, this is the Lamar Road every evening when the wolves are in town.

Making matters worse, the Slough Creek Pack has a secondary den where they happened to be raising their pups in June 2008, a site clearly visible from the outhouses at the turnout to the campground. Not exactly remote!

Re: Is this an

It reminds me of that old 1970s song, "Runnin'
With the Pack.'

As far as the outhouses go, I hope everything
comes out okay!!

Safe in the Park

It is nice to see people who love seeing the Wolves. I am glad these wolves are in park boundaries where they can't be shot at with a gun! Sad and disgusting how our government is allowing each day wolves to be murdered by humans...taking them off the ESA and not giving them any protection was a horrible thing they did!..I hope they will restore it back to what it was.. where they get full protection.
Did not mean to rant..but the Wolves are a very sensitive subject to me..I LOVE them!
Thank you.

Re: Safe in the Park

You'll be happy to know that wolf-watching in Yellowstone makes a greater contribution to the Wyoming economy than hunting (all hunting, combined) does. Surprising, but there it is.

If I had been there...

...I'd have been watching that lady, the one with the big scope!

Hoping to be there in July.
