Re: interestingGo to Bieszczady, especially in the middle of snowy winter or late autumn and you'll find a lot of places where that wonderful nothingness rule.
Imagine that the valley where Wolosate is located was one of the most overpopulated areas in this part of Carpathians before the war! Nowadays there is still nothing there though the road from Ustrzyki towards these several houses standing in the village looks very good now not like in late 90's for example.
Zdrowko!

Re: interestingI read recently a very interesting book about Huculi mountains and people... I'd love to visit one day these areas but now they are far with a little child. Perhaps in a couple of years.
Do you think the border to Ukraine will one day be opened in Wolosate ?

Re: interestingI read many times about projects to open it, especially since PL and UA won the organisation of Euro 2012. Ecologists protest against what would create queues of lorries at the foot of Tarnica and the national park, but some other propose only a touristic crossing. Read a couples of articles about it, I can try to find them back... it was couple of years ago, but no idea about the current state of this topic now.

Re: interestingYou are right. Just yesterday I translated UA text dealing with Uzhanskyi NNP(http://www.unpp.com.ua/page-5.html - the last three lines) and here is incredible proposal:
"There are plans in the nearest perspective, to create transboundary touristic crossings on the Polish, Slovak and Ukraine territory of ECBR Eastern Carpathians..."
It is shocking information for me, but I have always dreamt about something like this.

Re: interestingplans are always plans... from when does the text is ? any concrete actions done by the authorities ? that's always the problem with "polish" things... :(

Re: interestingI completelly agree, because there are plans to establish e.g. Marmarosh Mountains Biosphere Reserve for more than 10 years, but no progression in the terrain. Maybe in the case of UNNP, it is a kind of a wish to establish these tourist crossings, because they put a big effort in improving tourist infrastructure on the UA territory. Check this page:
http://www.unpp.com.ua/part-7.html
In 2006 no such marked routes and shelters existed, but now it is a reality. So maybe this is the only concrete action which can point to future hope.

Re: interestinglet's wait 2 more years till the EURO 2012. If nothing moves meantime, I think it will never.
