World's crappiest tent

World's crappiest tent

I found this tent at about 13000' on the Kings-Emmons Ridge between Roberts and North Emmons. It was out in the open, completely unsheltered. Not only is it not waterproof, it's not even windproof with big gaping holes. The owner was a true minimalist and didn't bring a sleeping bag, only a mylar blanket. Now this was a person I wanted to meet. I was hoping I'd run into him on the ridge, but it didn't happen. To get the big picture click here. August-11-2009

Re: Shot Wheels?

It's "Hot Wheels", the name of an extremely huge series of toy cars made by Mattel and the tent is just a kid's play tent. I wondered if maybe Jordan Romero trained up here.

Ha, ha ...

Perhaps their "hot wheels" just got cooked?

Re: Ha, ha ...

I crack up whenever I think about it. People spend so much money on brand name expensive gear and this guy uses a Hot Wheels tent at 13000'. I'd like to examine the rest of his equipment.

Okay, I'll leave you alone while you're checking out his equipment.

It is rather funny. They picked a really good
spot to pitch a tent for the night.

The stars must have been incredible!

Ha ha

I don't know if I would use that at 13,000+ feet on a mountain top. I wonder if whoever left it actually slept in it.

Re: Ha ha

I think he did as evidenced by the crumpled mylar blanket inside. I don't remember what else was in it. I wish I had taken a picture of its contents.
