Just back...Done several trips to Yellowstone in early October. Always pretty, always good weather, always no big crowds. The only Joker in the deck is hotels are hard to come by on Columbus Day weekend, especially in W. Yellowstone. Reserve early
I would like to see more of the backcountry/wildlife
Fascinating and beautiful - but a lot of people
but definitely worth seeing the seismic activity if you haven't yet.
Spent time here on a road trip to Seattle from Phoenix.
having grown up only a couple hours away i have been here many times via red lodge and the bears tooth pass....
One of my favorite parks to visit, lots of wildlife, and who does not like geysers?
We were in Idaho Falls visiting my sister, so me and my dad went up to Yellowstone for a day. We hit Norris Geyser Basin, the brinks of the Lower Falls and the Upper Falls, and Old Faithful. Lots of tourists on the roads.
I had been to Yellowstone twice before, and it never, ever gets old.
Cool place, have been to a few times, but smells real bad... :-)
One of my favorite childhood memories is visiting Yellowstone NP and trying not to breathe through my nose. It was fun seeing all those geothermal areas.
Saw so many elk it was unbelievable. Held up by bison on the road and made a quick stop for a moose. Trip to Big Sky.
But visited in 1966 and again in 2005. See my Artists Paintpots, Upper Geyser Basin and Midway Geyser Basin Albums.
