After a 2.5 hr walk into Cwm Caseg, we set up camp just before dark besides a small lake called Ffynon Caseg. The wild campsite is 2500ft/ 750 m above sea level. Its an ideal place in which to summit the peaks of the Carneddau. The next day we moved straight up from the campsite to the NE Ridge or The Dragons Tooth ridge named after the broken shards of rock that line the top of the ridge. The route up is very steep and at the top turns into a hands on scramble which is quite exposed but is soon over. On reaching the top of the scramble there is a small walk across to the true summit which is composed of a small rock pinnacle. From the top of Yr Elen the many peaks of the Carneddau are easily accessible.

Windy ridge
Climbed after heading north from Carnedd Llewelyn to Foel Fras to 'bag' the 3000ft peaks I hadn't seen before. Then headed down west ridge before heading backing into the Carneddau to climb the Llech Ddu Spur the next day.
