Rithmatic, WI 4

Rithmatic, WI 4

As imagined, quite picked out and not very difficult to say the least. Way too many folks for me down here at Schoolroom. I thought one poor soul was stretching on the snow underneath this climb, when in reality, she was scared out of her wits and front pointing and swinging up from the creek to the base of the route. Tons of folks sitting in their harnesses down here. More of a people watching opportunity than climbing one. Would not revisit the Schoolroom, way better routes in tighter quarters (read less folks). This pillar was by far the most popular route down here and made for a quick lead. School Room Pillar, WI 4-5, Ouray Ice Park, February, 2008 (2 days-14 routes)

Not school room pillar

This is Rithmatic, a WI4. School House Pillar is to the climber's right, beneath the cave, and is a fair amount more difficult than this guy.

Re: Not school room pillar

thanks, all those folks with picks on top rope make me nervous....if a partner ask me to go down there I will, climb a few lines, take a few quick photos...but usually work our way out fairly quick...I led the one I think you are talking about this past January...on the right side of a recession I guess you are calling the cave....still way too many folks no matter where you are in this area...cheers

Agreed! Though it's not very crowded right now- saw one other party on Five Fingers today. Well done on the lead, I TR'd SHP and couldn't imagine leading the guy just yet.
