1000' above the Spearhead
The Spearhead, while imposing and incredible from Glacier Gorge, doesn't look nearly as huge from a thousand feet above. This view, taken at sunset from the summit of Chiefs Head, shows Spearhead standing guard over the entire Glacier Gorge. Black Lake lies in the deep tarn in image center. The west wall of Longs Peak catches the shadows from McHenry's Peak and the Arrowhead. April 14, 2006.
