5/14/05: The southeast ridge...
5/14/05: The southeast ridge of Mount Hope. Note the steep, treed section at the bottom, the crux of the route.
At top, center, lies the southwest ridge and Point 13,542, which forced me to turn back five days earlier.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."   --Calvin Coolidge
