A false color caption of Northern Dalmatia shows the snowy Velebit and the mediterranean coast (blue = snow, green = evergreen, spruce and true fir forests). Velebit and the coast of northern Dalmatia are famous for a meterorological phenomena accompanied by the outflow of cold continental air to mediterranean. The BORA is one of the strongest winds in the world and has denuded parts of the islands Krk, Rab and Pag. This downslope wind is very strong and an important modifier of the living condition in this part of croatia.
