A rare view of John Ottos\'s Monument
Some winters the desert scape of the Monment gets enough snow to ski Liberty Cap trail from the upper trail head. Sometimes even to the edge above the names sake Cap itself and views of the Grand Valley below. In fact the past four years 2007-2010 have had enough snow to ski for 1-3 months eqach winter. John spent winters on the Monument and many summers on Grand Mesa and built trails and even engineered roads on the 11,000 foot Grand Mesa as well.
