Irridescent cloudsHey great picture of a fairly uncommon atmospheric phenomenon!
It's called irridescent clouds and is a symptom of small, uniform water droplets in the upper atmosphere. See this link for another nice picture and some better descriptions of the science.

Re: Irridescent cloudsThanks Charles, really interesting. The weird thing, however, was that this tiny little wannabe of a cloud turned into a fully covered sky only an hour later! Perfect weather up till then.
And it's a pity that you never catch the real beauty on a picture. Plus by scanning you again lose some quality (I only have the paper prints :-().
