A typical Valais cow below the glaciers

This was on the way up to the Tracuit hut, on as high as nearly 2800 meters. On about 2600 meters, there is the grassy plateau of Combautanna, where cows and even donkeys and horses (the smaller race) graze, and they go very often to the very top of the vegetation zone, which, in the Valais, often approaches the 2900-meter-line. Above the cow you can see the Turtmann glacier.
