Overview
In the summer of 2011 me and three friends of mine, we took a one-day adventure in the medium part of Stara planina, also known as Balkan - the longest mountain on the Balkans. We started from Gabrovo, a close mountain town, heading on south to peak Ispolin ("Collosus",as translated from Bulgarian). The peak is 1523,4 m high and is actually the last one above 1500 m, the highest one from here to the Black Sea. The area is called Uzana, it's the local ski resort (a non developed one). Here is also the geographic center of Bulgaria.
Ethnographic complex Etara (near town of Gabrovo). I observe a water spring, passing through a house.

Crocus balcanensis - also called Минзухар in Bulgaria. It is said that this flower comes before the spring... And stays for all warm months after.
Just before the peak. This is the steepest part. Here we already have a 360 degrees panorama.

Rali has a new home! The photo is shot just before to tell her, that there is lots of insects inside! ^_^
On the geographic center of Bulgaria! We found around lots of mushrooms (Macrolepiota procera, known as Сърнела in Bulgaria). They were quite delicious souvenir from that place, as we discover a few hours later =)
