glad to hear you're alright!

damn - that's a hell of a thing Michael. Glad to hear you're alright (the big picture sort of "alright", know what I mean?). Well written, captivating story too.

EDIT IN:
I can totally relate to the feeling of "I need something in now or I'm coming off!!!!"

What a stroy!

I'm glad that you're alright. It doesn't seem to be a good time in the mountains right now. I was almost killed by rockfall last weekend. Hope you get well quickly! Best wishes, Lukas

Accident

1. "An accident is just a progressive narrowing of options. Whether self-imposed or brought by external forces, backdoors, retreats and alternatives vanish like doors swiftly closing with a click." -Couldn't say it better.

2. I've had those hand injections before, You're right, it's the most painful thing yet.

3. A speedy recovery to you, both mental and physical. It's hard when you can't get out as often as you like, and then get injured on top of it.

Best wishes

for a quick recovery ! I´m glad to read that the injuries are not too bad. Go back climbing as soon as possible. And your´re right: an accident can happen to anybody at any time.
Cheers, Michael

Re: Best wishes

Hey Michael much appreciated. I will get back...it's good or bad depending on your point of view...the accident didn't "cure" me! However the doctors said a man shouldn't mountain climb if he's going to scream like Flanders because of a hand injection :D.

Re: Wish you a quick recovery!

Thanks Vid! I loved your "Sea of Stones." Oh don't worry I'm back in the mountains! Almost went there last weekend with the kids but the elevation gain was a bit much (keeping it to 600 meters for them).

Best wishes of recovery, an bit late, and wishes that your broken hand will still work enough to continue fixing bugs in the Bulk Uploader ! :)

Re: My goodness!

Almost all better now, thanks for the well wishes Tazz! I wish I could say I never had any kind of accident or problem, I'm sure there are some who can say that with pride. I'll try to learn from them!

This time last year..

..you were writing us after we had our close call. DAMN GLAD you are okay and all has gone well! As stated - the system worked as intended. That's why it exists and should always be used, because s**t can happen to anyone. Very glad you wrote the report - it's a good reminder.

Re: This time last year..

Good point! Yep...what a massive surprise to run into trouble. It shouldn't be though: climbing is actually (duh) dangerous. :)

shit happens

Hey, master of dramatic stories, still alive and kickin'! Get well and climb on, you know shit happens only to some extent, but still take care of yerself. And don't worry, the toughest guys are scared of injections or the dentist, or both :)
Some of your one-liners will become SP classics...
cheers

Re: shit happens

Thanks Kamil. Naw, I definitely take complete responsibility...I chose to trust an untrustworthy anchor and paid the price! I guess I've gotten a reputation as a dare-devil. I'm really not, it's just that I feel a responsibility to post these stories and (over) analyze them. Thanks again, happy climbin'!

Happy ending

I am very glad to hear you're ok! Knowing you from your stories, you would probably have a hard time missing the mountains anyway... and I'd have a hard time missing your stories...
