After the fire... fireweed....
After the fire... fireweed. This area was scorched along with Yellowstone NP in '97. The bright pink is fireweed, one of the first plants to grow back after a forest fire.
I am posting this photo also to show the place where you turn off for the southern approach to Granite Peak. (July 1998). Hopefully this area looks a little healthier by now.
