Aircraft Wreckage

The wreckage from a Bristol Blenheim aircraft which crashed on Carnedd Llewelyn near Carig yr Ysfa on April 8th 1940. The Bristol Blenheim was a British light bomber aircraft used extensively by the RAF in the early days of the Second World War.

The event occured when three Blenheim aircraft left RAF Bicester on a training flight to RAF Ronaldsway on the Isle of Man. Blenheim L9039 broke from the formation in cloud, and crashed into the top of Craig yr Ysfa. The four crewmen, all in their early 20's, were killed in the accident.
