Alan leading the last hard pitch before the easy run up slabs to the base of the gendarme. This shot shows the typical sharpness of the upper North Ridge of Stuart. While route finding was the tricky part of the lower ridge, here we were hassled most on the upper ridge by the challenge of minimizing rope drag. September, 2001.
